the emptiness that fills everything – josé manuel martínez sánchez

his capacity for discerned judgment in fidelity to his own spiritual nature. And the meditative state is the ideal one for communication with the spiritual being. It is there that the Being com-prehends the truth that is proper to him.26

St. John expresses in his poetry an experience of transcendence of reason itself, a reaching of the ineffable where all innocence is far away, «an understanding not understanding», «a knowing not knowing», «a sublime feeling / of the divine essence». Ecstasy of all sacred contemplation is what pervades the poetic experience of St. John, an entrance to the rebellious knowledge of that experience that escapes all rational sense. «I entered where I did not know, / and I remained not knowing, / all science transcending». It is the entrance to the experience of God in its direct and spiritual sacred emotion, an ascent to the summit, to the highest ascent of the soul: the divine ecstasy.92

At least you will be able to leave something for others. Doesn’t that make you a little eternal? A little? Eternity has no degrees. I knew that eternity did not exist from the very moment I held happiness in my hands.118
